Changing Groups (EMEA/London)

Know there's some previous threads on this but I suppose with the pandemic and virtual internships it will be different.

Recently got my group placement for a BB (GS/MS/JPM), and it wasn't what I wanted. I'll of course give it a chance in case I end up loving the group and industry (and also to convert) but thought I should be aware how to go about switching groups if this wasn't the case?

What will FT recruiting look like? I'm aware it's going to be even harder than normal due to circumstances.

Not OP but am at MS in similar situation, got one of my last preferences. Do you know if the process for this is formal- i.e. you're no longer in consideration for your current group (it's all or nothing) or if this is a get a return offer then try and change?

Not gone through it yet but from what I read, you'll need to finish your first year at least before moving, and providing they have the headcount in other teams you can move. Otherwise have to finish 2 years.

You can't really switch honestly, despite what people are saying. You will have to wait for the 1 year stint FT but do remember that at JPM they no longer make analysts rotate. So if you're in a shitty group then you will probably not be able to convince an analyst in a industry team to switch into ECM/DCM/Credit.

By all means try network with other teams but the chances are not great. Good luck
