Chicago Apartment Recommendation

I'm looking to move to Chicago in next few months and not very familiar with the area. What are some good apartments you would recommend a young professional renting? My price range is 1700 - 2200 for a studio/1B1B. Really appreciate any great insights.

I would do more research on the neighborhoods, as that will narrow things down a lot.

The general rule of thumb is the youngest cohorts live farthest north (Wrigleyvilleish), think fresh out of college, and as people age they start moving farther south Old Town, Lincoln Park, River North, West Loop, etc.

You can also use a broker in Chicago, which is common for people new to the city.

You will likely work in the loop. River North is where clubs are and is going to be more on the expensive side but close to offices and nice restaurants and some places people go out. It also skews older because it’s more expensive, so more often early 30s or people that are either bankers, consultants, or on their second job.

Oldtown/ Gold Coast is younger and cheaper but farther from the loop. Has a younger, out of college crowd and some solid bars for younger people that people commonly go to.

lakeview/ wriglyville is where most young out of college people live from my experience.

West loop is also a good option with some solid restaurants places to go out and proximity.

If I were you, I’d live north of the loop and optimize on price, proximity to office, and proximity to going out. This likely should have you somewhere between river north and lakeview.
