Choosing between 2 offers. Advice please.
hey everyone. I'm sitting on 2 job offers that lead towards different career paths. Ultimately, I will need to make a decision on where I see myself. But before that, I want to hear your opinion on which path to take based on career progression, salary, and exit opps (if any).
Currently have offers for
1) commercial banking as a credit underwriter (bank has ~80b in assets)
2) revenue management analyst position with a top airline (pricing/yield management)
Insight into these roles, general advice, and opinions are well welcome - thanks.
Depends on what you want to do in the future. I would choose the banking one, but that’s because I a FI person.
do you know what opportunities are possible after a revenue management role with an airline? leaning towards the underwriter role because I know there's a structured career progression that i'm satisfied with. My worry with the RM job is that i'll be stuck with the same role and salary after a few years.
Sorry, I dont quite know that much about that industry. But from my point of view, you could move to equity research covering aviation. Maybe you could do consulting.
Appreciate it. If those are the case, I would be ok with choosing RM. Thank you!
Commercial banking can lead to fixed income. And if you’re doing a lot of business with junk companies, then your skill set let’s you do even more. Possibly private debt, Mezz debt.
See who the bank does business with and then decide. If you don’t want to work in those industries, then choose the other.
