Choosing between locations with the same employer

Hey all,

I'm not sure if something similar is out there but here it goes. Currently going through recruitment for an internship and for the first time I have interview options. For the sake of talking this through, let's assume I can field offers, as I'm confident with my background and experience. Two of these options are with the same company, which is my top company of choice. The only thing is they are located in 2 different cities and have different recruitment timelines.

I'm currently interviewing with a Midwest office for the position, but I also have a closer office in the Southwest (where I have all of my personal and professional connections) penciled in at a later date this year. This is a classic bird in the hand example, but interesting because it's the same firm. Should I get offered in the Midwest I'd have to make the call in a reasonable amount of time, but for the sake of the dilemma say I accept this offer and meet later on with the Southwest office as well. Should an offer come from there what could I do with that? I understand the ethics of reneging an offer, so you don't need to berate me there. Would I be shooting myself in the foot if I did this since it's the same firm? Anyone had a similar experience they learned from?
