Good luck!
Not to be "that person", but there are a lot of topics with sales interview tips on here already.
was the link helpful? how were the q's? have they filled the position?
Was this on the CIBC website?

Hello Everyone!
I have an interview with some guys on the S/T desk at CIBC World Markets (Canadian BB) for a summer analyst position (summer 2015). The interview is next Thursday and I was wondering if there was anyone here that worked at CIBC and could give me some insight into their role, the culture of the firm and any other information that I could possibly bring up / would be good to know for the interview.
All input is welcome! I've also been reaching out to alumni who work at CIBC to get their thoughts but I figured this would be a good way of getting even more information.
Thanks in advance!
How did you get an interview so early? They usually start them until January.
I know one of my interviewers personally and they arranged it.

I have a CIBC World Markets Equity Research interview coming up and I am wondering what questions I might be asked?
After speaking with HR, there is only going to be one hour of interviews and then they will make their decision.
that will make a big difference.
though generally, if you dont know your way around financial statements, you should probably stay home.
i second that. and make sure you're up to date on macro events, market situation, etc. and have a favorite stock. they might ask you what you'd invest in.
It is equity research associate position, it is an internship.
Where is that based in? You might revise DCF, CAPM, beta etc. S
Hey I'm curious as to how the interview went. I was going to have interviews for the equity research assistant position but they thought I had already graduated and told me to contact them again when I graduate this year. Would be grateful if you had any insights.

So, following a phone interview which lasted about 40mins last week, I got invited to an interview with someone working in the group I applied to at CIBC World Market. Any pointers I should be looking for ? Got a strong finance background (I graduate next week with a finance degree) and already completed Level I of the CFA examination.
Anybody wants to share personnal experiences with CIBC WM (especialy Canada).
Thanks in advance.
You'll have to be more specific as to what type of role you're applying for. In general, I found CIBC WM likes to bust your balls on technical material. As a firm, they work their people pretty hard.
If your interview is for Canada, expect lots of technicals. I have no idea about CIBC WM in the U.S.
Im applying for an analyst job here in Canada in their Middle Market Investment Banking group (mostly M&A type of work).
Would going through the Vault's Finance Interview guide be helpful ? Or the Vault's ib interview guide ?
Thanks in advance
Have a stock pick, know and understand the vault guide. Being able to walk through a DCF is nice, but understanding the weaknesses and limitations of a DCF model is more important. Know what comparabe ratios to use. Understanding when/why to use EV/EBITDA or EV/Sales instead of P/E is important. The Vault Finance interview guide is useful. Have a good answers to the standard fit questions (Why banking, Why CIBC, Why middle market, walk me through your resume, tell me about yourself, etc.).
Thanks CDNmonkey, much appreciated.

So I got appointed to a phone interview tomorow for an M&A analyst position at CIBC World Market. What should I expect ? Human Ressources told me it would last about 30 mins. Thanks.
Things to know...
Why investment banking? Valuation Have a 2 minute pitch selling yourself
I went through a phone interview, it was a conference call with two other guys. It was your basic interview, why are you good for banking, what do you expect tobe doing, etc. They were pretty intense though on grilling valuation methods in detail, so I'd say that's definately something to be preped for.
So how did it go BankersBelle ?
I've got some catch up work to do tonight I guess, it was a surprise even to me they called back, I applied online about 5 weeks ago and had completely forgotten about the job. Thus I'm not prepared at all right now.
