Any one heard back yet? Do you know how many interns they select?
I just received a phone call in mid Feb, have you guys head back from anybody? Did you guys get a phone screening first before going into the office for interviewing?
How was the interview? What ended up happening?
kind of a tangent, but is this front office? is it basically equity capital markets, or something completely different?
the hours are long. I sure hope it would be FO
CMO includes ECM, DCM, Levfin, but also several other products. A quick google search would've helped you there.
As far as the recruiting process, it's pretty much over. Best case scenario is that you are on the waitlist at this point in time.
Origination is front office. Aka what all coverage groups are, basically.
hi, I got an offer to join Citi's CMO division as a spring insight intern. At the end of the insight programme, there will be an interview (for summer internship fast-tracking). Has anyone of you gone through this? and if so, what should I expect? thanks a lot!
Any thoughts on the interview?
Citi Capital Markets Origination First Round Interview (Originally Posted: 01/28/2012)
I just found out I have a 1st round interview at Citi for their CMO division. While I'm not too familiar with this division at Citi, I know a fair amount about MS' GCM division and I'm assuming they're similar / the same.
If anyone is familiar with this division and knows what I can expect in terms of interview questions (technical vs. fit, what kind of technicals, etc), I would greatly appreciate it. Are the types of questions going to be a lot different than IBD?
Thanks in advance
looks like DCM or ECM... basically... a lot of fit questions for sure... but probably market questions as well... i would imagine it's light on math/brain teasers
was curious of this as well.
any input/help would be great. Thanks!!
Citi CMO is their ECM/DCM. While the job is vastly different from IBD, the interview is similar and is primarily focused on behavioral/fit questions. I went thru 6 rounds with them and the only technical I got was 'walk me thru a cash flow statement'.
stvr2013, where are you based? Are you in either Europe or Asia?

Citi CMO-how are they unique? Please! (Originally Posted: 01/26/2010)
Hi Everyone. I just received my first super day invitation for Citi CMO's Summer Analyst Program. I have some idea of what capital markets are and how it's divided between the different group but as I was trying to conduct some research on the internet, there doesn't seem to be very much I could find. So if someone could help me answer a few of these questions, that'll be wonderful.
How is Citi's CMO different from say any other Capital Market groups? ( During an interview, one analyst mentioned that Citi's CMO is unique but I can't really find why...)
In equity capital markets, what do they do other than IPO's and secondary offerings?
If you know of any books ( I tried looking some) that gave you a better insight into capital markets, please let me know of one.
If you have any experience with Citi, the superday, CMO, or just any advise, please share.
Oh and also, maybe what are some good areas for questions in CMO. I'm not trying to be lazy just don't want to make a fool of myself.
Thanks everyone in advance!
I thought that SA only had one round of interviews. I guess they are ramping it up this season.
bump!
Any input on OP's #1 would be helpful. Why is Citi's CMO unique?
Citi CMO Assessment Center (Originally Posted: 11/11/2014)
I have been invited to the assessment center of Citi for the position of Summer Analyst. The assessment consists of 3 competency interviews, case study and presentation. Has anyone been through this process already? And could give me any advice or tips?
Very thankful for any advice
Hi Renovatios, would you like to let me know what to expect from the assessment center, I have my AC on Friday. What case study were you supposed to do? How was the FT exercise? Would be grateful if you could share your experience. Thanks
Hey hulle_bulle, How did the assessment centre go? I have mine coming up this week and I'd really appreciate it if you could tell me what the case study was about? Did you have to do a numerical test?
Many thanks!

I just was invited to interview with this group, what are opinions on this opportunity?
It's for an SA position in NYC.
I'm interested as well. Hours/Pay Scale/Exit Ops etc.
bump
Should be hearing this week.
i'm not keen on capital markets gigs - they usually tout themselves as having the benefits of trading - without the moment to moment stress - coupled with the corp fin skills of IBD - without the hours.
the result is that you don't build a good skillset because you end up tying loose ends that neither IBD nor salespeople/traders want to do. your function is to know the deals in the market and the terms on those deals, so you'll do loads of comps and summaries of current deals....it's a lot of data dumping.
a lot of these groups are getting absorbed into IBD (and making cuts...) as banks realize that giving a few MDs and analysts a bloomberg is cheaper than hiring a whole group.
If you haven't heard yet, you probably didn't get it, my buddy who got an offer got a call on Monday.
On the other hand, I haven't received a call... so I'm shit outta luck
I went through interviews for Capital Markets SA and didn't find anything here that was comprehensive. Figure I'll give an overview for what I went through.
Technical: Know basic IB (Valuations, DCF), bond pricing, and maybe a stock pitch (didn't get this one but I can imagine them asking).
Industry: This one is important. Know a couple recent developments in bond markets, in an industry or two for equity markets, and something in any international market. Should also know one or two recent projects the bank has worked on.
Behavioural: Standard stuff. Leadership, quant skills, teamwork, etc.
how long after the superday did you hear back? I had mine yesterday, and I'm very anxious... Thank you
