CITI CMO (Capital Markets Origination) Summer Analyst

Anybody know what questions they will ask in the Capital Markets Origination groups at Citigroup. What was the process that you go through for each rounds, etc.

I just received a phone call in mid Feb, have you guys head back from anybody? Did you guys get a phone screening first before going into the office for interviewing?

Hi Renovatios, would you like to let me know what to expect from the assessment center, I have my AC on Friday. What case study were you supposed to do? How was the FT exercise? Would be grateful if you could share your experience. Thanks

Hey hulle_bulle, How did the assessment centre go? I have mine coming up this week and I'd really appreciate it if you could tell me what the case study was about? Did you have to do a numerical test?

Many thanks!

Hi,

I know its been a while but I am having my AC this week so would be really greatful if you could tell me how was yours? Any tips, recommendations I should look out for or prepare..

Many thanks

i'm not keen on capital markets gigs - they usually tout themselves as having the benefits of trading - without the moment to moment stress - coupled with the corp fin skills of IBD - without the hours.

the result is that you don't build a good skillset because you end up tying loose ends that neither IBD nor salespeople/traders want to do. your function is to know the deals in the market and the terms on those deals, so you'll do loads of comps and summaries of current deals....it's a lot of data dumping.

a lot of these groups are getting absorbed into IBD (and making cuts...) as banks realize that giving a few MDs and analysts a bloomberg is cheaper than hiring a whole group.

I went through interviews for Capital Markets SA and didn't find anything here that was comprehensive. Figure I'll give an overview for what I went through.

Technical: Know basic IB (Valuations, DCF), bond pricing, and maybe a stock pitch (didn't get this one but I can imagine them asking).

Industry: This one is important. Know a couple recent developments in bond markets, in an industry or two for equity markets, and something in any international market. Should also know one or two recent projects the bank has worked on.

Behavioural: Standard stuff. Leadership, quant skills, teamwork, etc.
