Do Citi for SA, get returning FT (if you don't fall back on DB Alum) go through your analyst stint and either lateral or get MBA and leverage your Alumni base at DB for recruiting.

DB should be your safety net if you have a great alumni base

After the associate level, you can jump to DB for a bigger pay increase than staying another firm. If you spend your whole life at one firm the pay increases are slow and the standard 3%. you can jump from firm to firm for 15%-20% increases

So it wouldn't be a good idea to intern in Citi S&T and hope to be able to interview and switch over to Citi IBD at the end of my summer? Was thinking maybe internal mobility might be easier than coming from another bank

Citi is in much better shape, both in market momentum and capital requirements. Not sure DB is even in much of a position to make full-time offers. The last 18 months have not been kind to DB.

That said, as someone who has done both banking and S&T, I can assure you they are different PLANETS, even within the same firm.

Between the two, if you don't do S&T NOW, you will probably NEVER have a chance again. IBD is a perennial option at the MBA level if you can't break in as an analyst (but breaking in as an analyst is pretty much essential if you want to do PE).

The truth is you're the weak. And I'm the tyranny of evil men. But I'm tryin', Ringo. I'm tryin' real hard to be the shepherd.
