Clueless PE Recruitment - "Target firms" & Modeling?
I am a 1st year analyst in a group that does not have much sponsor / buyout interaction however have started down the road of buyside recruitment and have a couple questions -
1 - Can anyone recommend a good model / tutoring resource for buyside case studies (free or paid)? I have not done much (any) LBO modeling since training so much guidance is needed.
2 - Many of the Headhunters ask for "Target Firms" on their info sheet. As I have not had much sponsor interaction, I feel as though I cant credibly say I want to work for firm X or firm Y at this point in the process. Of course, I would love to work at KKR however my background is not competitive for that. Does it put me at a disadvantage with the recruiter to leave blank? Should I add some firms that fit a sector / size focus I am interested in? Am I over-thinking this whole thing? How do I know if the head hunter even has a relevant relationship?
Thanks
