Cold calling target companies
One of my main duties in my corporate development job is to try and get the executives of the target companies on the phone so I can pitch them our idea of an acquisition. These companies are mostly medium to small sized, and although they don't have 10 layers of people you need to get past, there are still gatekeepers that will make sure you don't get to speak to the CEO on the first call. It is never easy to speak with a CEO or an owner, as they will be very busy %99 of the time. Anyone have had a similar experience, and know how to bypass through gatekeepers in the context of an acquisition? As a rule, I never go in detail of the reason for my call when I'm talking to people who are lower in the hierarchy, but if anyone has had any success with an alternative method i would be happy to hear that.
Have you tried finding the CEOs on linked in and asking for a call that way?
Not yet, but I will
I remember reading/hearing this somewhere from Tim Ferriss, but he would try calling after 5PM / before 8 AM in the hopes that whatever gatekeepers there are, arent working and that the CxO would answer the phone, haven't tried it myself but seems like it could work
I’ve definitely had this same experience myself calling between 5pm-7pm seems to be the sweet spot to get in contact with the C-Suite executives.
