Cold calling/emailing potential employers
Has anyone tried cold calling/emailing employers that they're interested in working for (even though there are no job opening on their sites)? Or is it better to ask for an informal interview and then mention to I'm looking for a job?
Anyone have any experience with this process?
Working on this myself. I was able to cold email the heads of a pretty big firm w/out formal internship postings and eventually get my resume passed along to the PMs there. I approached it all fairly directly, asking them about their internship offerings (99% sure they already know you're interested almost solely in an internship, so I figured might as well cut to the chase).
Take this all with a grain of salt though because I'm still sort of in limbo.
But whichever route you choose, just make sure you email them because there's not much downside and there's definitely upside. Worst case they forget you exist, best case they admire your attitude/ambition and give you an interview.
Good luck
