Trippy Taco:
Analysts are probably swamped right now with networking calls, and an email from somebody they don't know/not from their alma mater is probably at the bottom of their list

I'm emailing associates + VPs. I read a thread on WSO to target them for cold emails given that analysts have almost no pull in the interview process at most places.

Highly doubt an Associate or VP will respond unless you mention in your email the name of an analyst that recommended you reach out to them. From my networking experience, I only got responses if I started at the analyst level and moved up, and that included alumni from my school and IB program

Spin Control:
Tweak the email using feedback here and follow up. I usually have to email strangers 2 or 3 times asking for a call/meeting before they respond. As @Trippy Taco said, don't take it personally, they are probably buried with work.

Can you link me to specific threads that have good templates/advice/feedback etc.? I'm currently using a tailored mix of M&I and WSO templates.

update 2: Potential game changer: I've been cold e-mailing their work e-mails. I find their name/group on linkedin, then write it in an excel spreadsheet, get bank e-mail format, and send them a cold email to their work email from my uni email. Should I be sending linkedin messages instead?
