Cold-Email Response from Billionaire's

...assistant.

I emailed a well-known activist investor who gave the graduation speech at my high school asking for advice. His son graduated the same year I did and we happened to know each other.

Got an email about a half hour later from the assistant saying he will be out of the area.

Anyway I can pursue this without coming off as annoying? Or get past the assistant?

I just asked for a few minutes and some advice.

Should I ask when he will be back in the office? Never had this happen before... not used to cold-emailing billionaires.

Just ask when he'll be back and if it's possible to schedule a 15 minute call. I literally just had that same conversation this morning and scheduled a call with the Head of Fixed Income at a top MM.

This, and if you don't hear back it was probably just a nice way of saying, "Get lost" without making you lose face.

this isn't china, we don't care about "face"

Am I the only one that's impressed that an assistant is a billionaire?!?! J/K.
