Personal or University Email while Networking?
Pretty straightforward - should I use my .edu email account for networking emails (alumni, cold, everything) or just stick to my gmail? I know the benefit of using an .edu account includes the receiving end might see that .edu domain and hopefully (if they're alum) that'll hook them, but are there any downsides to using your university email? Besides the fact that all your emails are one big muddled mess, for those of us who like to compartmentalize. I prefer using my gmail, but it's so overridden with junk and spam that it's just about as neat as using my school ID, which is also overridden with junk & spam (except from real people). Regardless, it's still separate from using an email specifically for on-campus business. Any advice is welcome...
I think you're overthinking. Just use whatever email you frequently use on a daily basis. Don't switch over to .edu just because you think alumni will look at it and think of you highly. If your school is on your resume, they will already take note of that.
If your subject is something like "Harvard student question" or "Princeton junior inquiry", it doesn't matter. I used Gmail because I did not want to lose access to my email and am pretty OCD with archiving old emails.
I don't it really matters, but emails sent from a Gmail address have a higher chance of being flagged as junk / spam.
Use your school email. It only increases the odds of engagement, and there are no meaningful downsides

I am a finance professional with ~5-6 years of experience - previously did IB and now on the buyside. Since graduation, I have been using a college affiliated domain for sending personal e-mails (e.g., xyzschool.edu), but wanted to know your thoughts on whether it begins to look unprofessional or somewhat childish as you move through the years.
I am a little weary of creating a new e-mail address just to appear more in line with what others have, but wanted to get some opinions on this. I am beginning to reconnect with headhunters, which prompted this thought. Thanks.
I've always found @gmail to be the safest bet – however, if you're on a upenn/harvard/target network, that might weight it out. Seems more like personal preference to me.
If someone is going to give you heat over what email domain you're using (within reason..), I think that's childish.

1) What looks better (more professional) on a resume: name@gmail/hotmail.com or [email protected] ? (yes I am attendending a Dutch Uni :) )
2) At the moment I have [email protected]. Is it better to change it to [email protected]? (or is there even a better combination?)
Furthermore, my uni is a non-target school.

You are overthinking this. Try to avoid hotmail though.
Change it to something interesting, like [email protected].

Any of those will last you for life in any situation. Do not use Hotmail, Yahoo, AOL or anything else. Gmail or Outlook only. I would advise against university emails (unless you are networking with alumni) as they will become defunct when you leave.

Gmail or Uni, i dont think it matters. It matters more on the content of your email and what you're requesting imo.

Gmail and have your old school email forwarded to your gmail account. Your email should say where you went to school possibly the subject line as well.
Gmail for sure, unless you have a screen name that is unsavory. Make sure it is professionally appropriate and easy to remember EX: [email protected] or [email protected]

Title says it all, I heard from a classmate that many bankers autofilter ".edu" emails and I'd be better off using a gmail account. I am currently interning for a commercial bank that gave me an email, but I might not be able to take time off it to get coffee with an IB hiring manager, and I'm worried the email address will get disabled after the internship ends.

Sounds like your classmate's trying to punk you. That's ridiculous - the vast majority of students will use their school e-mails during recruiting.
Regarding your company e-mail: 1) Please do not recruit for other jobs using your current firm's email. They can see that stuff and 2) It will definitely be disabled once you leave.
