Combatting Sunday Scaries?
What strategies / tips do folks here have when dealing with Sunday Scaries? Personally, I really struggle to find ways to capitalize on the day Sunday, or, even if I do something enjoyable in the day or afternoon, by the evening time I feel consumed by dread. Suggestions?
stop bein a lil bitch
its what i tell myself - works very well tbh
When I was younger I used to meet up with friends for bottomless (drinks) brunch (Sunday Funday) and get super hammered to the point we barely remembered we had to work the next day. I was WFH though so Monday morning would just check my messages at 9am and then put my IM on away with the volume all the way up and go back to sleep for 3hrs - haha.
To clarify I was in management consulting and only billed hours worked, so nothing unethical such as stealing company time was going on here. I definitely spent 30hrs per week on Excel in this role with 30-40 models going at once.
In the summer, I always love getting in a round of golf that ends right as it gets dark out. By the time i get home, eat and shower, it is almost time for bed and you don't have much time to think about the scaries. In the winter, well, the scaries get pretty bad. Maybe I'll get a golf simulator and see if that helps.
Came on to leave a comment and saw that yours was relevant to what I was going to say, so decided to respond to this instead. In the winter, I find getting a bunch of friends together and spending a few hours at a place like Five Iron a great way to kill time and be distracted.
.
I try to be moderately productive on Sundays. I exercise during the afternoon - hit the gym, work on mobility, or even just a long walk. Then usually in the evening after dinner I do 30-60 minutes of work (assuming there isn't anything that is time sensitive - otherwise that consumes my weekend). Things like drafting a few emails that are ready to be sent Monday morning, meeting prep, etc. makes me feel better about starting the work week.
A good workout always takes a crappy day and makes it amazing
Havent had sunday scaries since WFH / Covid started. It's not bad at all knowing you can get up next day in sweat pants at 8am, make breakfast, and slowly adjust to work
But as they say the official anthem of the Sunday Scaries was the '60 Minutes' clock ticking after the 1-4pm NFL games IMO
This is SO facts...
Crazy y'all also get the same feeling from the NFL theme song. Memes made me realize we all had basically the same childhood haha
Can't have Sunday Scaries if you work 7 days a week

haha this was my first thought and for OP to be happy that he/she doesn’t have to work on Sunday
