Combining CC grades with 4yr grades. Ethical?
Hi all,
I took 70 units at a CC and got a 4.0 GPA. I transferred to a target after 2 yrs and have taken 29 units, currently have a 3.4 GPA (had some emergencies towards the end of the semester and did shit on all my finals). Is it justifiable if I combine my CC and my 4yr GPA? Doing so would put me at a 3.83 cumulative and really help out recruiting FT.
I would say "Overall GPA" or "Cumulative GPA" and in the off chance you even get asked for transcripts, then send HR your CC and Uni transcripts and let them spin their wheels about it.
I would say no. My reasoning is: 1. I am guessing that the CC was easier than the target or in general the classes you took at CC were the bs classes that you had to get out of the way. (Smart move to save some cash not dinging you just saying) 2. List a major GPA. Assuming there is a difference just list a major GPA and role with that and explain what is going on.
3. Occam's Razor. Look it up. It's the law of simplicity; stating that simpler is better. rather than say this is a weighted GPA just explain what happened.
Just cast a wide net, focus on MBB and boutiques, and don't forget to network. You'll be fine in the long run.
.
I really hope this is a joke. If you think this is ethical, something is wrong. You go to a different school, and community college DOES NOT EQUAL target in terms of class difficulty. List them separately.
Just do it and dont think twice about. Explain your logic if it comes up, but i doubt it honestly will.
How was the process transferring to a target?
You would be completely misleading anyone who looked at your resume (assuming you use the modern resume format). If you list your "cumulative GPA" next to your target school, it implies that it is your cumulative GPA at that school. However, if you keep your CC on your resume (I have no clue why anyone would) and you list combined cumulative GPA then you would probably be fine doing this. Either way, I would advise against it.
