Hey! I had a phone interview a couple of weeks ago for their Commercial Banking Internship as well. Have you already had your interview or are you still waiting?
Commercial Banking Interview Prep Advice on investment? (Originally Posted: 11/14/2011)
Hey guys,
I am preparing for an interview for an internship in my 3rd year of University. Its with a commercial bank and working under the person who oversees part of their brokerage.
Basically, I have a number of questions to prepare answers for prior to the interview. My question is:
"What are some different ways to invest cash from the brokerage's clients' cash accounts?".
No stocks or bonds, cause it has to be liquid and as riskless as possible. I think they want some creative ideas to generate return.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I mean, you can always put them in CDs* issued by your bank. You can probably find a way to screw them with a low(ER) rate.
*certificate of deposit. WSO changes it to CDS...
hardest question i got for BB Commercial banking was why CB > IB?

Hi everyone,
I have an interview next week for an analyst position at Commercial Banking for Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. Does anyone know what to expect for a Commercial Banking interview? I'm wondering if it is the same as an investment banking interview. Thanks for your help guys.
just curious if you got this interview through on-campus recruitment or applied online.
from what i remember on the job desc, lots of skills and responsibilities are similar to ibanking. i personally would focus on the debt side of things
F100 Corp Finance / Commercial Banking Interview (Originally Posted: 02/07/2011)
I have an interview this week at a large f100 company, in the commercial finance / asset based lending group. I am pretty sure the role involves credit analysis of companies for around $1-25M loans.
I was told that f100 interviews are mostly (if not completely) behavioral/fit questions, and easier than ib interviews overall. I appreciate any additional info that anyone can give me regarding what to expect and what to be prepared for. Thanks
This type of interview will definitely be easier than an ib interview. However, my experience has shown that there will still be basic technical questions focused on the financial statements (ie how would an increase in depreciation impact the IS, CFS, and BS). There may also be some very basic ratio questions (ie explain how leverage impacts a company's PE ratio), and other simple questions along those lines. Should be a breeze.
Thanks, I will be sure to cover those things, any idea what the hours are like for these type of positions?
40-50 hours/week
what would the pay be like in this kind of role? I am guessing 45-55k prorated?
