Commercial Real Estate Investment Firm --> IB/PE

Hi everyone,

I currently am an investment analyst intern at a commercial real estate investment firm. My true passion and goal is to break into IB BB or elite-boutique. I am a 3rd year undergrad with substantial internship experience, multiple leadership roles in finance programs and clubs on campus, I do not attend a target school, am one of the top students in my finance program doubling in finance and economics, but am having trouble breaking into IB. I was at a GS recruiting event last week where I made some excellent contacts with current analysts (who said they'd like to talk more over lunch and float my resume) and I know I have what it takes. What are some points I can improve on to land these positions?

Also, for the current IB monkeys who have been in the industry a few years, what is your regard of commercial real estate and the analysts who come from it? I like real estate as an investment, but I feel like the industry itself is not as prestigious as IB/PE/HF and there isn't as much money to be made. Someone straighten out my thinking please!
