Community college vs low tier state school

My grades are good enough to get into decent schools like indiana , texas a&m, JMU, VT and south Carolina. but i live is Virginia and i have a the opportunity for guaranteed admission intoUV/Mcintire but i have to go to community college for 2 years and maintain a certain GPA Mcintire states that they go for transfer students that attended the Virginia community college system. So my question is what the best route to take for a career is IB or MC for top companies ie Goldman Sachs , McKinsey & Company. Also will it be harder to get an internship as a transfer during my jr or sr year ? I am also a minority so i will be taking advantage of the diversity programs.

If you are sure that you will devote your time to getting that 3.7+ GPA in Community College go for it. As a community college student myself, it's painful to keep a good GPA and excel in subjects that you don't really care about. Also there are so many unknowns and it's generally more stressful. If it was my choice, I'd go to Indiana University Bloomington, kill it there and network my way into an Investment Bank (assuming cost is not a factor). Otherwise, I would go to a Community College.

Secondly, don't bank on the fact that you're a minority. Know that you got the job because you were the best qualified and not because the bank had to fill a hiring quota. This is coming from a fellow minority. Good luck.
