someone will inevitably post "do a search" but the truth is that its not too clear and isnt as standardized as the 70k for ugrads going to BBs

but i have read on here that its something like 300k+ all-in and could be higher one of techbuyouts posts said that comp for 2 years pre-mba was about 700k-1m and depending on how you'd split up the 2 years you can estimate from that

I think techbuyout's quote is definitely on the high-end. I know that certain megafunds used to guarantee $1mm in 2 years to post-MBA associates; not sure if this holds true. I think that the megafunds offered something like 300-350k for first year, pre-mba analysts (inclusive of base, bonus, co-invest, etc). This was in '06/'07 though. not sure where they panned out in the last year or two.

I did hear from a recruiter though that Carlyle paid 105k base + 105k bonus for their 1st year pre-mba associates this past year (end of '09).

Thank you HerSerendipity.

I agree a search doesn't make sense given that this cycle is only two weeks old now. I also don't think it is useful to extrapolate one or two points from a few years ago.

Disagree that comp packages are not standard. Had heard last year all firms offered around 100k and one did 140k. Few if any gave ranges but those were in the 2.5 to 3.5 all in. Absolutely no guarantees.

Please share any info for this year if available

How can you say comp packages are standard but not have solid numbers that don't vary? Standard comp is much more of an IBD thing. Comp varies tremendously in PE due to the size of the AUM and location, some won't offer co-invest, etc.

Sorry - I must not be clear. I am speaking only about megafunds per my initial post. I want to know what is being offered to potential pre-mba associates. A base is given at signing, and sometimes a range or guarantee.

I was asking about this year - this is just going on now. I am curious to see that given the stronger markets and activity whether (i) ranges are being offered and (ii) any guarantees are being offered.

A thousand pardons my good man. I sort of overlooked that.
