Consulting in the big 4
I graduated from American University of Sharjah which is considered a brand/ prestigious school in the UAE (where I live).I have been working in comercial emerging corporate banking for around two years now and frankly I don't find it fulfilling.
For a while now I have been looking into breaking into Management consulting however i haven't applied to the MBB since it seemed like a long shot without the perfect GPA and the IVY degree. Thus, I have been applying to the Big 4 and other tier B firms.
Recently, I was reached out to by three of the big 4 with two of the leads being for an auditing vacancy and third one being for a consulting graduate program.
My question first question is; should i go for the audit or the consulting opportunity?
My follow up question would be ; is it possible to shift from Big 4 consulting to firms like the MBB/ Oliver Wyman..etc after putting in a couple of years at the Big 4 .
Although you'll get your foot in the door with an audit opportunity, I'd weigh my options carefully (grad school, success breaking in as you are right now). Audit can make it hard for you to break into consulting after that as you are continuing your path as supported by your background. I'd go for the grad program.
