I am currently a sophomore studying Industrial Engineering the Honors Program at Rutgers University. If I have a GPA of around 3.3-3.4 when I apply to consulting firms for summer internships next year, how are my chances? I have pretty good internship experience, and I am participating in a Deloitte case competition next week. Furthermore, I had a job for two semesters, and I participate in two engineering related clubs. I personally feel that I am amicable, and I generally interview well. Basically, how much of a detriment will my GPA be? What would you say is the minimum cut off? Thanks in advance, everyone.

network!!! If you're going to be around Deloitte people at this case comp, network with them. Same for everywhere else. I've seen people with lower GPAs get into MBBs because of networking and good work experience, so do everything in your power to get in with the people who can increase your chances.

It will definitely be an uphill battle. Your fight will be to get the interview - beyond that it's all about how you perform on cases. Get some higher ups on your side (i.e. principal/partner level) and they will be able to pull your application in despite having a lower GPA than a lot of your competition. At most top firms your resume becomes way less important once you step into the interview so if you really kill it it won't make as big of a difference as you fear.

Not enough info to really give you material feedback. What's your SAT score - assumed over 2250 since you're Honors? Where did you intern and where do you work now? Recognizable F500 firms? What roles?
Recruiting as a Tech Intern at Accenture, Deloitte or IBM shouldn't pose an issue GPA-wise as Rutgers has OCR for those roles and I believe their minimums are more lax particularly with your major and your test scores. Just get face time with their firms at events. Try to get a 3.4 if possible.
You'll be a strike for MBB barring a referral from someone senior due to your institution and GPA - higher expectations. For T2 firms like LEK and OW, your GPA is on the low side of borderline (LEK has a 3.4 minimum AFAIK), so coupled with your non-target background, you'll really have to network and grab some referrals to get looks.
