Consulting vs Google Offer

Hello guys so I am currently faced with a choice between Google Marketing APMM program vs ATKearney Business Analyst role. Assume monetary value of the offers are about the same, which ones would put me in a better position in the next 2-4 years? In terms of exit opps? For google you can become PMM in around two years but I feel like its pretty much dead end after that and consulting you get huge exposure to different industries not to mention sponsorship for MbA. Since its not MBB Google has also a better brand.

What would you guys do? Right now I'm leaning consulting but what are the pros and cons of each?

Consulting enables you to join PE or strategy departments of corporations.

At Google Marketing you will adapt Adwords, contact youtube uploaders with many views, keep relationships with websites. I cant see how Google will put you in a better position. If you were a programmer I would say join Google and innovate, but as an business major I would always go consulting.

Google - marketing is probably the best position there out of undergrad (outside of engineering), and Google's name will do more than AT Kearny.

You will want to move out of either firm after a few years (Google's promotion rate is mind blowingly slow, largely due to the flat structure; if you go Kearny, you will probably want to move to a better consulting firm or a CorpStrat department). I am reasonably sure that Google would offer better MBA placement.

This is just general advice though. If you strongly prefer strategy, go AT Kearny; if marketing, you should do Google.

Honestly, it really depends on what you think you want to do afterwords/what you'd enjoy doing more now. Both are great opportunities. Google has the brand edge in the general public, but I wouldn't underestimate AT Kearney's clout in strategy circles. An incoming consultant at my MBB office took an AT Kearney job, went to HBS, and now is here.

You can get into a top business school from either, so I'd figure out where you think you can be more successful. The top 25-30% of new hires in either role will end up in great places; where do you have the best chance if being in that cadre of individuals? Just my two cents.

I'd take google for better work life balance, all the free food, great amenities, and likely similar b school exit opps for more enjoyable life. I had a lot of college friends to a few years in consulting to later quit cuz the money ain't worth traveling to some backwards ass areas like Cleveland for 6 months out of the year (NO offense if your from Cleveland!).

Google is literally the best (large) company in the world to work for... I'd take that offer hands down.

edit: you'll get to play foosball and ride around on tricycles while kicking beach balls half the time

I worked at Google for 3 years.

APMM is an elite program with many perks, so that's a plus. That said, I think marketing at Google is generally kind of lame. It's a lot of writing blog posts, project management and conference events. Some marketing jobs are more traditional, but I think most of them are like that.

That said, Google is a super fun place to work, great brand recognition and APMMs often go on to do interesting stuff after. It'll be way more fun than working as a consultation imo, and you can always try to transfer internally after the 2 years or get a marketing/PM job at another company.
