Is it normal/feasible to transition from corp dev to corp strat? I feel like I see a lot more corp dev exit opps that match my qualifications, but I've realized my interests more closely align with corporate strategy. Need a lifestyle change so have been considering doing corp dev for a couple years and then applying to one of these strategy positions that require ~4 years of experience.
Coming from an IB background as opposed to consulting FYI.

I'm sure that shouldn't be a problem. I think It would be a lot harder the other way around IMO (going from pure Strategy -> pure M&A-focused CorpDev). A company's M&A strategy is inherently connected to the company's overarching Strategy. There's a lot of nuanced groups out there and it's pretty dependent on the companies too. I've seen a handful of companies where ex-consulting and ex-IB professionals are both on the same team and they can take on new projects on both sides of the spectrum - whether it's based on preference/interest/skillset/bandwidth
