Corporate Finance to Equity Research/IB Full Time Position [Recent Graduate]

Hello,

I recently graduated from a non-target in the south and am currently working as a financial analyst for a defense contractor. I have fairly substantial Equity Research experience (I have written several research reports across a few industries - if you would like to take a look at them I am happy to PM you). Additionally, I am under the impression that I have missed the boat as an IB Analyst mainly because I still do not have IB specific experience (correct me if this assumption is wrong). Thus, I think that the most prudent choice for me is to find an ER position at a bulge bracket and use this to get into a top MBA program and then enter IB as an associate.

I have a few questions so I will list them out:

  1. Should I delete the current experience I have at my full time job when I am applying to ER roles because I only just started and it may look bad? Is this different for ER positions at BB's vs small no-name boutiques?

  2. Should I expand my experience as a securities analyst and specify the companies I covered or their industries?

  3. What are my chances of landing an ER role at a bulge bracket?

  4. Any other guidance on my resume is welcomed.

And thank you for the help. This website and community is phenomenal.
