Corporate Financial Analyst trying to move into the financial sector
Currently, I am working as a financial analyst for healthcare system in their financial planning department. Alot of what I do is a mix between accoutning, budgeting, and expense analaysis. I was an accountant and an market research analyst before this. While working full time, I got my master's in finance from Harvard's Extention School. I chose that degree because I wanted to move out of the psuedo accounting world that I am in and into the more exiting (at least to me) world of financial research/ valuation/ analysis/modeling, basically, Wall Street. I am also studying for my CFA level 1 exam in Decemeber and learning programming and databasing from free online courses (EDx and Coursera).
The reason I am here is because the world of finance is complicated, vast, and exclusive. Which means as an outsider I a) Don't know where to start or where I'm going and b) not sure how to break in. With my lack of industry experience I need to find ways to leverage my hardwork, diliegence, networking skills, and analytical skills to hiring managers to prove that I can be succussful. So, I came for insight and help on ways to do that.
