Corporate FX trader ?

Hi,

Could someone explain me what is a corporate FX trader ?
Is it a rewarding job or just an FX execution where you input numbers into a software?
The company is global reach partner.

thanks !

FS

You're execution trading for intercompany transfers and eliminations. Yes you're doing FX trading, but your're doing it for Rolls Royce needing to shift money from the UK to the US. In no way a bad skillset to build, just a more esoteric one.

Hi,

Many thanks for the quick answers. Below is the public job spec. What I do not want is to be a broker, called calling client and just execute trade without any tactical view or book to manage.

One thing is pushing me back at the bottom of the spec: “we are looking for someone with a 2-3 years' experience in Settlements or financial services operations.”

I found it odd that they look for an “opps” profile for trading, I have a macro background.

Any thought on the potential pay, career, and exit opportunities after few year in this role for e.g. IB ?

Public Spec:

*This role is being recruited to support the operations of the Group's foreign exchange trading function. The focus of the role will be the execution of foreign exchange trades, as required by the Front of House Team. The candidate will be responsible for covering the business's foreign exchange risk, whilst also ensuring trade execution remains profitable. The role requires a broad range of skills to ensure accurate and effective trading.

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execution of foreign exchange trades. Products will include: spot, forwards, swaps, market orders and options
  • Support of front of house ("FOH") operations with pricing and market/ economic commentary
  • Manage post-execution lifecycle of FX trades. Monitoring and reporting any obligations.
  • Work closely with the group's treasury function to ensure smooth trade settlement and manage cash obligations with our counterparties
  • Manage and maintain counterparty relationships so the group is viewed in a favorable light to its external stakeholders
  • Ensure all transactions are executed accurately across the trading function and a low error rate is maintained and reported

looking forward to your answers and help.

many thanks
