Cost of Rent in Chicago as IB/ Consulting Professional

What is the average cost of rent in Chicago for the general areas that many Financial professionals in the city choose to live. For example, I know to live in Manhattan we should be ready to dish out close to 2000 dollars a month for a room that will most likely have to be shared. But how much would a similiar apt cost in Chicago?

While it’s no Houston/ATL/CLT in terms of COL, Chicago is significantly cheaper than NYC. You can get a nice 1 bedroom for 1800-2000 in river north/streeterville and for 1400-1600 with a roommate. This is also within walking distance of the financial district.

I no longer work in Chicago, but when I was there most bankers I knew lived in River North, Streeterville, Gold Coast, West Loop, or Lincoln Park.

This was my experience as well. Nice high-rise building with doorman and amenities in good location in NYC is about ~3,300K a month. Equivalent in Chicago (River North) would be about ~$1,800
