Could "moving countries" actually be a life saver?

1- I love this site!

2- I love this forum

Ahem, so anyway. I'm thinking about moving to Europe [next week]. London is the top spot until I get my ass to learn a useful language for continental Europe.

I graduated this year from a lackluster/ non-target. Still I was lucky to get into a fine boutique FT. The last year has been brutal. I lost my mother and a dear friend – who was pregnant – to covid. Everything in life atm seems exhausting - work, family, life in the city, abrasive and aggressive co-workers..etc. The emotional wreck has been overwhelming.

School (this time a target!) in London will take a year, but currently I have no intention to return. I'm wondering if I'm just thinking irrationally based on a faulty metacognition. Am I making a sound call? Would love to hear your options (please no trolls!).

Sounds like a great idea. Attending university in London doesn't mean you need to stay there permanently (or in Europe) - just use this time to explore and see if this could be a viable option long term. It takes significant life events to make us consider drastic change - doesn’t mean you’re thinking irrationally.

First off, sorry for your lost. And no, I don't think it's a bad idea moving countries. My cousin changes countries very often because he loves traveling. He makes enough to get by comfortably (very strong background in marketing and knows many foreign languages). Some days I'm envious of his lifestyle and he went to a non-target.
