COVID Samurai Thwacking Job Prospects?

Hi guys. Just reaching out to gage your opinion on a situation. I applied to an IB Analyst position just over two weeks ago, and every time I check the company's website I get an In Progress status. During this time I have reached out on LinkedIn to a few analysts who currently or who have worked for the company(including the one who held the position I applied for) to go over the job and best ways of setting myself apart should I be contacted. But of course, the long wait instills a sense of panic that I may have already not been considered. Given the COVID situation, I also understand the delays companies are experiencing with distance work and evaluating their hiring capabilities, but too often I fall into the blaming myself box.

My question to you is how those of you who have been through similar circumstances(submitted resume/long period of silence from HR) handled your situations? Did you reach out to an MD to communicate your interest? Did you go back and ask if your network contacts could put in a good word? And how did you handle the anxiety of the wait?
