Career Resources
Split off from SocGen - big French Financial Company. SocGen put a lot of money in, then spun off Cowen. Was not successful. Use to be SG Cowen. They mostly do tech/growth companies. It has a good reputation on the Street, and lots of people use their research. I would say it is comparable to TWPG or a Needham.
I think they used to be good in Healthcare too, but lost quite a few good people when acquired. Used to be better.
So overall, a well respected research department?
How would experience like that look going to work on the buy side?
It would look good. I think people with sell-side experience are very in demand at buy-side firms, given that you will get to know some industries and some companies very well and be very good at modeling. good luck
