Credit Suisse lead analyst in an attractive sector vs. top-10 HF analyst

Able to get an offer at CS research for a good sector (VP role w/ a junior analyst, base 250k) and an analyst role at a top-10 HF (fundamental L/S, base 150k).

Both seem interesting; CS would likely be less day to day stress.

Which do you think is better?

First, congratulations on your offers, I hope to be making a similar decision in the next few years. To answer your question, it depends. Are you ready to put your money where your mouth is or do you want to write about stocks with no skin in the game for the rest of your career? To be honest, I'd take the HF role 9/10 times. But that's because I am all about the upside and I embrace trying to beat the market. If you are genuinely asking this question though.... you might be better suited staying in ER.

if you're risk averse take CS research. High base, difficult to get fired in the short term. But if you're young and can handle the stress then take HF.
