Ronaldo

  • More $$$$
  • Brady had Giselle / Ronaldo has any other model he wants
  • Kraft is cool but Ronaldo wants diplomats/businessmen from every nation to kick it with them
  • Way more accolades compared to Brady

Just reading up on Ronaldo's bio on Wikipedia. Apparently, he is named in honor of Ronald Reagan, his dad's favorite actor. How random is that?

Anyway, that's a tough one. If I could implant my brain into Ronaldo's head I might go with him, but Ronaldo is basically the non-American equivalent to white trash. More than likely by Ronaldo's grandchildren's generation his family will be as broke as the day he was born. Money by itself doesn't make a person "upper class"--education, family history, maturity, wisdom, etc. are what separate highly paid athletes from truly wealthy families. I doubt his grandkids will have any significant wealth. As a case in point, Ronaldo had a kid out of wedlock when he was 25 and the women he dates (mostly models) have not exactly been from billionaire stock. Giselle, ironically, is one of the last true, blue supermodels (I guess I consider a supermodel a woman who can command 8 figures a year in compensation for her services).

I think Tom Brady's grandchildren, on the other hand, will still be wealthy. Again, stolen from Wikipedia, but Brady graduated from Michigan and even interned with Merrill Lynch at one point. Oh, and he speaks English, which will help his progenitors. Long-term, it's better to be Tom Brady and to be Tom Brady's kin.

Brady also had a kid out of wedlock and would be considered white trash by your definition. From Wikipedia:

Brady dated actress Bridget Moynahan from 2004 until late 2006.114 On February 18, 2007, Moynahan confirmed to People magazine that she was more than three months pregnant with her and Brady's child.114[115] Brady and Moynahan ended their relationship sometime in early December 2006, around the time Moynahan became pregnant.[116] Though not in the delivery room when their son, John Edward Thomas Moynahan,[117] was born in August 2007 at Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica, California,[118] Brady was present the day of the birth.[119]

Umm yeah. Gotta +1 this. Brady is a douche. Might be the greatest QB ever, but he treated Bridget Moynahan like crap. Not to sound gay, but Ronaldo will always get more high end tail than Brady. Brady can have Giselle. If Tom Brady stepped over into Europe, most women there wouldn't know who he is or want him. Interesting video: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2369107-lionel-messi-cristiano-ronal…

Goofiest looking (elite) soccer player though? Probably Wayne Rooney. Goofiest looking (elite) qb? I'd say Peyton Manning, with Romo running close second.

Valid to point out, but my "definition" of trash isn't all encompassed by a single attribute. Education, quality of wife/family, overall intelligence, etc. Tom Brady is one of the most intelligent QBs to ever play the sport. I'm guessing that his and his wife's wealth will last several generations. I'm guessing Ronaldo's will not.

Who would you rather be?
Who is the better sports person?
I go with Ronaldo.

As for the best sports person to be? Ricky Williams, the Afro-Man of retired NFL players. Munchies and Cartoon Network, all day err day.

This made me laugh more than it should have.

Big Tom Brady fan.... but if Brady steps outside US nobody would really recognize him, Ronaldo is known all over the world no matter how much of a douche he is.

This may sound jingoistic (which is fine--it is), but America is the only nation that matters. If Ronaldo stepped foot inside the U.S. (really, North America) nobody would know who he is except illegal aliens.

I agree but when it comes to a bachelor lifestyle having every hot girl in Spain, Brazil, and Argentina know who you are is better than some chick in Alabama or Indiana.

Ronaldo - bring him to the US and everyone know who he is, send Brady to Europe and people will be confused when he says he plays football and his position is "quarterback"... is that a defensive midfielder or more of an attacking defender?

Are you mental? The same percentage of people in Europe would know who Tom Brady is as those in the U.S. who would know who Ronaldo is. I don't know what kind of circles you run in, but Ronaldo is not a household name in the U.S.--Joe Biden has more name recognition. James Woods has more name recognition than Ronaldo.

Let's be real, it's not like either of these two guys need their fame to get laid. Put Tom Brady on a beach in Rio and girls would be throwing themselves at him even if he said he was a surf instructor.

Both will have amassed more money than they could spend by the time they're done playing sports, so that's not really a differentiator either.

Whether it's better to be a football or soccer player is tough too. On the one hand, not being demolished every week by 250 lbs steroid raging linebackers is a pretty big plus. When Ronaldo retires he'll have his health in perfect shape, while Brady will most likely be affected by the wear and tear of the NFL forever. On the other hand, the 5 month vacation every year is tough to beat too - soccer players basically get none.

What it really comes down to is personality. Would you rather be a douche or a crybaby. Actually, that applies to both. I'm gonna have to go with neither on this one.

Soccer is the #4 most played US sport by high school boys, and just recently surpassed softball as #3 for girls. The US has the highest youth soccer participation rate in the world with 3.9 million kids playing. You guys are delusional if you think that Ronaldo wouldn't be recognized in the US. Yeah, he's no Tom Brady or Lebron James, but more people than you think know who the hell he is. My daughter plays soccer, and in the south there really isn't another sport that girls can be involved with so easily. Boys play a lot of baseball here, but soccer is huge.

Why would a female soccer player in Arkansas know anything about Ronaldo? You can't watch European soccer in the U.S. unless you go out of your way to find it.

Literally, the youth participation rate in soccer is utterly meaningless to the question at hand.

My theory is actually that you can basically only have ads during half-time or on jerseys while in football/basketball, you get an ad way too frequently with all the timeouts, substitutions, etc.

Less money for sponsors => less pay for everyone in the sport => worse athletes competing/trying to go pro => decreased fan interest => less money for sponsors => etc. I know it's not 1:1 because tennis has ads every odd game on changeovers but how popular is that in the US, but I think lack of advertising feeds into it. The lack of advertising opportunities is fine in Europe though because its so ingrained in that culture as well that people will pay a lot of money to watch it.

Going Concern:

It's pretty clear why soccer is less popular in the US...not because it's for "hippies" but because the rest of the world is so good at it and brahs in 'Merica can't endure not being numero uno

I mean, bball is throwing a ball threw a hoop over and over and baseball is mostly standing around

Lettuce be real here

You know I love you. I consider you my long lost son. But, unfortunately you are wrong or misguided on your major points here. Speaking of 'chicken vs. egg', if soccer was more popular here, we would dominate it. Not because the U.S. is so special, but because it has a much larger population than any country where soccer is popular. Soccer is played by a lot of kids here, but the best athletes move to the 'better' sports by high school most of the time.

If 'bball is throwing a ball through a hoop over and over' then soccer is kicking a ball into a net. No need to get overly philosophical about sports, every sport is a slight improvement over kick the can or 'I'll race you to the fence'. Despite what ESPN sells, it's just overgrown men getting paid to play kids games.

The best athletes dont play soccer, soccer isnt about insanely atheletic. Look at Andres Iniesta, Messi, or the entire barca team.

You're giving soccer too much credit, there's like 0.65 goals per game, gotta change it to "soccer is kicking a ball around a grass field for 90 minutes."

I'd rather play Brady's position on the field but off the field? Ronaldo by miles.

While I will argue that Brady is the better looking of the two, Ronaldo's lifestyles makes Dan Bilzerian's look like that of a 40 year old virgin and that is tough to do.

I feel as if I would be fine with Brady's wealth and what his wife brings home as well. I assume this Ronaldo lives in Europe. That is a net loss outside of Switzerland IMHO.

Only two sources I trust, Glenn Beck and singing woodland creatures.

gtfoh Ronaldos net worth is 460 million and Brady is 200 mill

Ronaldo is younger by almost 7 years better looking and better physique

Brady 6 superbowl rings and 4 mvp welll ronaldo has 5 champions league and European championship which are all bigger than your stupid fucking Super Bowl and plus ronaldo has 5 mvp of worlds biggest sports

ronaldo bangs more models than Jeter while Brady keep his face his Gisele pussy like a little bitch

ronaldo has 1 billion usd lifetime deal with nike alone

ronaldo by a mile u stupid fucking yanks
