Cross-border Investments in PE

I'm highly considering making the switch to buy-side but still debating on the type of asset class/fund. Right now, I'm an Associate in an IB coverage group and have been getting introduced to various PE positions from recruiters. I have experience in various industries (even though I'm in a coverage group), including business services, infrastructure (PFI, concessions, etc.), financials (e.g. specialty finance, leasing), etc.

Of the deals I worked on, I enjoyed working on cross-border M&A deals, and I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on type of funds that does cross-border investments. I have a friend in the Infrastructure PE space who has worked on deals in South America and Asia, but another friend in MF only works on domestic deals, since their international offices cover their respective regions.

Any info about cross-border opportunities in PE/buy-side would be much appreciated.
