Ares if you know you want to go into REPE. CS IBD if you don't.

I think Starwood has the bigger REPE fund? I don't know much about RE so can't really provide insight.

This is terrible advice. Starwood is a superior name than Ares in REPE. Also the firm being more centralized in Tri-state area also mitigates risk of being away from the mothership, in Ares’ case LA (though REPE has a very big presence in NY due to AREA acquisition). I think a lot of the AREA guys have left at this point too.

Starwood is a best-in-class firm in REPE. Though I would try and talk to people at both firms if culture is a concern of yours.

Both are great shops though and you probably can’t go wrong unless you don’t want real estate in first place. Haven’t worked at either firm but know people at both.

Starwood if you are deadset on real estate. If you are not, go CS IBD.
