CS vs Citi?

Anybody know how the culture is different between CS and Citi? More/less inclusive? Benefits, pay, etc? Does management (behavior) differ significantly? Bonus structure differences? I'm currently at CS, and thinking of going to Citi. Thanks

jv2324 and bankingbananas: I work in IB, a generalist tho I mainly work in Energy. CS culture are good, benefits are great, fair management, fair hours, good refreshments, can be cliquish at times but not bad. Pay isn't bad, but I've heard CS can be "cheap" so I'm not sure if it's in line with other banks.

I love how this changes every day. Weren't you working FT at BAML?

Also, Citi's recent thing about it being allowed to withhold withdrawal requests for 7 days scares me about the safety of the bank. While I have a feeling that more people know of Citi, a lot of people know that its doing poorly. It seems the CS situation has gotten better, but Citi does not seem to be doing much better. I honestly think that there is a good chance Citi will be broken up.

Is this a serious question? Citi is an absolute disgrace to the financial community. Serious lack of risk management and now largely government controlled. Meanwhile, CS has been able to control risk and has excellent deal flow. CS is absolutely a better choice than Citi.

I really don't think that's true. CS, Citi, DB, Barclays are all the same. There is no real differentiation between them unless you have specific groups in mind. Citi is a great place to work as is CS. Investment banking is just one part of Citi and that division is doing quite well. Yeah some MD's are scared about bonuses but junior level bonuses at BBs will always be competitive with the street. Honestly, look how big Citi is globally, they are doing well in the US league tables and you should be part of deals at either firm.

At this point I would be looking at culture. From what I can tell I personally prefer Citi. Deal experience is everything when it comes to recruiting for PE which happens about 8-10 months into your first year. As long as you are a top analyst you should get staffed on the good ones that come your groups way. Go by culture, people forget how important that factor is on these forums.
