Current Senior with BO trade support engineer offer.

Hi everyone this is my first time posting on wso just trying to get some advice.

A bit of background on me, I'm currently a senior at Penn studying CS with an offer to go to a Hedge Fund in NYC as a trade support engineer.

Salary wise it's ok, 85K base + 10K signing + end of year bonus. I'm assuming the end of year bonus isn't gonna be very high since I'm a fresh grad and working in a back office role.

My question is this: is it worth staying in this company working in this specific role for more than two years or should I be trying to find a better job right now? It's a midsize hedge fund but with a decent AUM and there is potential to move up but I'm honestly not sure where this role can land me or my exit opportunities in the future.

Just feeling lost currently since a lot of roles in SWE and IB have already finished recruiting. Any insight would be appreciated!

what is your career goal? My 2 cents is that you should try to get into a prop shop for a similar role. Prop shops seem to value their software/system devs a lot and that is reflected in their pay and career prospects. At prop shops, those roles aren't really seen as BO.

Honestly I wanted to get into quant research/quant dev. I actually have an interview with 2 sigma for quant research but I don't have high hopes for that lmao.

It's interesting you mention prop shop because the company used to be a prop shop until just recently when it started taking outside investment. Thanks for the advice tho!
