Current Undergrad, with a year-round internship, should I apply for summer internship?
First of all, I am new and thus should likely introduce myself. I am currently an undergrad student at University of Oregon (clearly the pinnacle of today's financial education institutions) and am a rising junior. Thus, the season of internship applications is nearly upon me. I am wondering if I should apply to said internships, so I come to you all for help.
First, let me say that I do already have an internship. It is at a local wealth management firm here that advises on qualified plans and high-net worth individuals and families. I primarily work on client presentations, pitches, manager attribution, and some equity analysis. I work part-time while school is in session and full-time over the summers. The principal of the firm has stated that he will help me find a job, practice for interviews, recommend me to anyone he can, etc.
So should I look for an internship next summer with a firm such as PIMCO, Franklin Templeton, etc. or am I gaining more valuable experience for buy-side at the firm I am at than I would at a 10-week summer program?
Thanks in advance for welcomes and help!
