Dating for Finance Guys: Date Bad; Marry a Med Student?
alright so at the end of our ridiculous spending, bar hopping, hooker fucking, model ravaging (the female kind of models), binge while working in finance, there will come the time for a serious long term relationship, that might/might not lead to marriage.
my opinion? all ambitious high-earning finance guys should date a med school chick and if things go well, stay with her through residency (or better yet, find a chick who's already doing her residency) and after she lands her first MD job, settle down with her.
what do you guys think? dont end up like one of the chumps who settle for his secretary because he's so godamnn career-oriented he never has time to find someone he really likes.
i mean, looking at some of these pictures, med school chicks are quite cute, to my surprise. i always thought they were the dorky pimply types back in college who studied 24/7.

i want to eventually go into healthcare hedge funds as i'm currently working on my MPH part time and right now we're working with a large pharma company about investing in some new research that employs a shit ton of med school researchers so theres that too. im not going to seek them out....but in the coming years i'll be bumping into a lot of med school chicks so i just wanted to get everyone's perspective about that

marry a schoolteacher, if you must, or some woman who works with blind kids. but a finance chick or a physician chick, no fucking way. first, physicians have this complex that what they are doing is way more important than anything you are doing if you are not a physician, so she will make no compromises for you unless you are a huge BSD making tens of millions in which case why the fuck are you not banging victoria's secret models? second, two type A stressballs in the same house = fighting all the time. you can look at your prestigious CVs as consolation when you are sleeping on the couch, pissed off at your SO and wondering what the fuck went wrong in your life, but by the time that happens the whole logic of what i am writing here will already make sense.

If you study the healthcare industry, you learn pretty quickly that a lot of doctors are crooks and actually don't add that much value (possibly surgeons aside). But that said, they have this holier than thou fucking attitude like they have the most important job on the planet. I want to punch most doctors in the face.
DO NOT marry a career-focused type-A woman, especially if you want to have kids. If you're committed to a front office finance role, you need a woman who is going to take care of the other aspects of your life, like home and the kids. An ex teacher, nurse or chef who wants to drop out of the rat race or something like that would be perfect. Avoid lawyers, doctors and finance girls at all costs. You can bang them, but never get serious with them.
And avoid fucked up American girls (most of them). Foreign girls are the way to go. If they come from Asia or Eastern Europe or LatAm, their standard of living and expectations will be really low. If you're pulling coin and treat them even fairly well, they feel like they have hit the lotto and will love the shit out of you. They also know how to be feminine and are less likely to become fat hogs like their American counter parts.

Its kinda weird though my GF wants to be a athletic trainer she fixes our college's football team up. Went out recently with med school girl - don't understand why everyone is trashing them, she was great. I think it's a bad idea for a banker to marry a doctor long-term because as someone earlier said - two type A personalities who are really into their careers can only end up badly. But if you're an analyst and you want a girlfriend, a girl in med school is going to be one of the rare people that CAN handle your hours - because hers are almost as bad.
Bottom line is I think you need a girl long-term with a brain that is equivalent to yours - and while doctors may not be the best bet because there's no possible way your kids wouldn't be messed up due to getting 0 attention, you can definitely do a lot worse. There are many successful doctor-doctor marriages that I'm aware of, so doctor-banker isn't that crazy.

Ok, I just saw this thread, but my current girlfriend is a doctor so this entire discussion made me laugh....I've only dated one doc previously (and not seriously) and I think they all have a bit of Type A in them, but that isn't a bad thing if they are motivated / not lazy.
Plus, compared to my past girlfriends, my current one seems super normal / well adjusted...
Marriage still scares the shit out of me but I'm 31 and don't want to wait until I'm 40 to start having kids...so that is the tough part.
