DCM at Senior Levels?

I'v been reading on other posts that DCM is great for a long term career. But on those other posts most people talk about the hours at the analysts and associate level. So I'm assuming that means at the VP level and up, the hours aren't too bad. How true is this? And if you're a more family centered person will DCM be a good career for starting and raising a family in your late 20s and early 30s (so I guess this is the time one becomes a VP, right?)
And sorry for all these posts concerned about the hours in finance careers. I am American but my ethnicity is southern European so I've been raised to have strong family values. So I'm currently exploring different careers and finance is really interesting for me but I'm concerned about the long hours will conflict with my values.
Thanks for any help!
