Debate of the Legends: "Anatomy of a Corporate Takeover"

Hey guys,

I came across this spirited debate conducted at Columbia Law School in the 80's boom years of takeovers and M&A deals. The panel includes: Warren Buffet, T. Boone Pickens, Sir James Goldsmith, John Gutfreund, Robert Mercer (CEO of Goodyear), and some of the most prominent corporate lawyers of all time. It is refreshing to see the corporate raiders vigorously defend their beliefs of capitalism.

Especially striking was T. Boone Pickens to me as he first came across as a cool and nonchalant Southern guy, but flashed some extremely sharp attitudes at the same time. It's also quite funny that Sir James Goldsmith later went on to actually greenmail Goodyear. Anyways, even though it is a little long, you'll find the entire video very entertaining to watch over this long weekend. Enjoy!

I love to see things like this where a large group of very intelligent individuals (albeit not all correct) come together and discuss a difficult topic. We can learn a lot from discussions like this. It's also interesting particularly now with the continued controversy surrounding Cohen and SAC. Great post.
