Deciding btw Sales & Quant..

I recently got an associate level offer from a major BB in sales&trading, with a focus on institutional fixed income(structured product) sales.
i also was offered a quant position from another major BB in IR/FX desk.
Although having a sales personality, I have a strong quant background, and am more personally interested in trading. So the questions I have includes:
1. Which is a better career path, long term wise, sales or quant? Is sales closer to business than quant research?
2. If trading is my ultimate goal, which route is more viable to this goal, and any suggestions?
Thanks,
puzzled.

What is your previous work experience?

Do you have a more quanty background or a more sales background?

Ask the guys on the trading desk how they got there. Were there lateral hires from quant/sales side?

Either position could potentially allow you to move to a trading position in the future but you need to figure out which desk allows more flexibility of a possibility for moving over....

I have a PhD background in an Engineering discipline. So I definitely have a much stronger quant background. I'm interested in a trading position in an IR/FX desk. How do people usually go about asking questions on potential moves?
