Decision Help

I'm an MBA at top 5, selecting a 1st year internship. No direct investing background.
I need to help choosing between BB ER (ER) in New York and Mutual Fund in Tier Two city(buyside). Ultimately, my goal is to go buyside, and really drawn to the idea of New York.

Am I shooting myself in the foot by doing BB ER? Apparently they don't have a good reputation for their research. But it is in New York as compared to Tier Two City.

I could forgo both offers and continue recruiting for a shitter buyside firm in a better location and then look to make a transition 2 years out. This compares to being at BB ER for 2 years and then trying to make a transition 2 years out.

Just need people to talk to give me more information about this decision.
