Deloitte Consulting: Undergrad vs Advanced Degree
Hi guys, I plan to reach out to the firm itself with this question but thought I could find a quick answer here: I recently graduated with an undergrad business degree and have just started my Masters in Finance. Basically every role at companies I've come across has options for undergrad students and MBA. I noticed, however, that Deloitte recruits directly from "Masters of Tax/Finance/Accounting" degrees. Under this section is finance S&O consulting, which is what I'd like to do. One qualification for this is "An MBA, MS Finance and 1-2 years work experience, preferably in a large finance organization". As someone who will graduate with an MS Finance and only two summers of internship experience, will I be able to get into this role for should I apply for undergrad positions?
Without any work experience, its highly unlikely you would be brought in at the Consultant level (which is what the Advanced Degree programs are hiring for). As a Consultant, I expect that you already know how to run client meetings, manage a small team, scope and plan short term deliverables. You should be applying to undergrad positions given your lack of work experience. This might sound frustrating but it will set you up for success rather than expectations you won't be able to meet.
