Deloitte Cyber Risk Advisory vs. Deloitte Technology Consulting
Hey guys,
I’m an incoming first year consultant at Deloitte under their Cyber Risk Advisory Service line (US) . I have a few questions of the differences between this service line vs. Deloitte Technology Consulting.
I am fully aware that Deloitte advisory and Deloitte Consulting are two separate entities I have found through previous and anecdotal experience that the work the work between Cyber Risk and Tech are more similar and the skillsets might be more transferable (vs. the difference between M&A/Financial Risk trying to switch to S&O). For example, one of the projects that I worked on during my internship revolved around the implementation of a new automated system in a company and one of the other interns was working with 2 BTAs on a project despite being in Deloitte Advisory.
My main questions are:
• What are the main differences between Cyber risk and Tech Consulting specifically and how much overlap is there between the two. (I am specifically interested in more implementation style projects, blockchain technology etc.)
• Is there an advantage to working in one versus the other (ex. I plan on doing an MBA in the future, possible exit options and prestige)?
• If I did want to make the transition what would the process look like and how would I position myself to be a good candidate to switch.
