Developers - budgets/ project accounting

Hey gang,

Calling all developers out there. How do you guys track your project budgets/ expenses? I've tracking all our development related invoices and expenses in excel and need to come up with a better system. I'm thinking quickbooks but really have no idea where to start. Any input would be appreciated!

Assuming you can afford to stroke the check, you really should be investing in a corporate level accounting system. We utilize Sage 300 but there are a couple options.

The biggest feature you should look for is a robust job cost system as well as commitment tracker. You usually can take these reports and export to Excel for financial analysis purposes.

That being said Quickbooks can work where you utilize the WIP instead of job cost but far from a good long term solution.
