Waitlist after superday?
How does waitlist work after superday? Is everyone placed on the waitlist? Is it safe to assume if I haven't gotten a "no" after a superday then I was waitlisted?

In my experience they usually let the first choice people know they got offers asap, then no one else hears back until they've officially signed. At this point the others are rejected. I've heard talk that some offers come in a couple waves for whatever reason - extended deliberation, diff. offices, whatever, but most of the time if you've gone a few days without hearing back your best situation is having been waitlisted.
When you mean others are rejected, do you mean they usually send a rejection email asap if they don't anticipate to waitlist you?
I don't know that my firm ever sent out rejection emails.
Ive had 19 interviews with a BB including final round... its been 5 business days since ive heard back. they said to expect a decision this or next week. recruiter said we will be in touch and hr said we are awaiting to hear from the team for next steps.

I got a phone call the day after my superday basically saying that they liked me a lot but cannot extend me an offer at the moment, and will have to see what happens with the other upcoming superdays and the headcount. I know this means I am on the waitlist but if they called me the day after is this a good sign?
actual interviews or are you counting networking calls too?
actual with one BB.
Don't think that really matters. I would just write a follow-up e-mail thanking them for their consideration and tell them you'd love the opportunity should it present itself and then don't ever think about it again. On to the next opportunity
There is usually a ranked/tiered system in place. If those who were offered turn it down, they go to the next person or tier. Unless you said something dumb in the interview and were crossed off of the list.
Waitlisted - Insight on the situation? (Originally Posted: 01/30/2012)
Three days after a BB corporate banking superday, I received a call from the MD saying that I was a strong candidate but that they were interviewing a few more people. She told me that several applicants were rejected, but that I was still in the running and that they were still making final determinations. She asked me odd questions, like if I had any concerns about working there.
I have no idea if she was implying that I was waitlisted. From past experience in IBanking, MDs usually outright say that you are waitlisted, rejected, or accepted directly after the interview. I am not sure if she was just beating around the bush.. Does anyone have any insight on the situation? Does corporate banking just do things differently?
I thought it was weird that she took the time out to call me and ask me further questions for 15 minutes, considering I had interviewed with her twice already and many of her colleagues.
I'd say the fact she called you is a good sign but don't get your hopes up.
I was waitlisted for almost 4 months with a BB before being declined.
My friend told me that sometimes they do this to see if you get any offers and then they will pounce on you (that is what happened with him and Citi) He got in GS and 1-2 days later Citi was sucking his dick.
start networking now. you're so close. take advantage of any opportunity presented. a few students will turn down their offers.
I was waitlisted twice and didnt workout...don't hold your breath and keep networking
So I take it from your comments that I was waitlisted? Kind of annoyed that she wasn't direct with me. If I get any other offers in the mean time should I tell her about it?
Yes, you should leverage that.
Just wanted to let you guys know that I got the offer!
They were doing interviews on a rolling basis instead of 1 big superday which explains the delay. I heard a little under 2 weeks after my interview, 1 week after that phone call.
I don't believe I was ever waitlisted. Guess Corporate Banking just does things a bit differently.
Dude great! go get em 100+ hours a week!
Hi, I encountered the exact same situation as you did. I just done my Global transaction banking (corporate banking) superday with Deutsche bank last Friday. Got a call from the HR the following Monday telling me that they haven't have a final decision for me yet but was very impressed by my interview. The HR was being very vague and told me "decisions will come out in the following few weeks". I honestly don't know what this means and what I should do. Any insights on this situation? Did you do anything after getting the "waitlist" call ? Thanks.
GS Post-superday waitlist (?) (Originally Posted: 11/17/2015)
Hello guys. Last Monday I had a superday with GS but they never got back to me. They said they would have gotten back to us by Monday (yesterday).
That said, I was released after lunch, along with seven other people. The rest four candidates ( we were 11 in total) advanced for further interviews. Out of these four, however, I am aware that they sent out a rejection already. Could I possibly hope on a waitlist or do you think this is out of the question? Should I reach out or just quietly wait?
Thank you guys!
Didn't you say you were released? That makes it sound pretty final to me.
Waitlisted below the other 4 candidates. Reach out if you receive other offers. The other four candidates spoke with senior management. Managing director must have rejected the one candidate.
Move on. Two of my buddies were at that superday and they both got offers and signed. Chances are slim the other two won't sign
Is this waitlist? (Originally Posted: 10/15/2013)
So superday last friday with BB regional office, got an email on Monday from the interviewer (who brought me in for super day) not HR
"After consulting with my recruiting coordinator, it looks like we won’t be able to move quite as quickly as I had originally hoped. You will be hearing from us at some time in the next two weeks, but I don’t have a firm timeline right now. I Just wanted to let you know so you have a good understanding of the timeframe that I’m working with"
So is this waitlist? If so, whom should I follow up with to confirm my interest?
yes definitely waitlisted. reach out to contact to express continued interest.
reach out to analysts/people you interviewed with
I've never heard of the term waitlisted.
This is more of "The group decided to hire you and we have to get you a seat from HR. We are only 75% sure we have a job for you so I am reaching out to you directly to hope you hold out for an offer."
Had it been a phone call from HR, I'd be reducing the odds to 50%. But you got a call from the interviewer and there's a strong chance that if you are getting hired, it's his group.
When I was in college years ago I got "waitlisted" by a big bank...in that case it meant that offers had already been given out but if there were slots open after those folks had made their decision I was next in line.
.
this is either one of two things:
a. they gave out other offers and are waiting to hear back if those people accept. If some don't then they may give you an offer (they just can't tell you that outright)
b. they legitimately have some issues with HR in getting the headcount or putting together the package, etc. which as delayed their timeline.
my guess is the former as it's just more likely.
Agree with harvardgrad08
You probably just missed the cutoff for their A list & are now in limbo. You did, however, heard back from your interviewer (assuming he's the key decision maker here), so that's not necessarily a bad thing. Keep your fingers crossed...
Wait Listed on the BOFA Job offer (Originally Posted: 11/24/2014)
Hi all,
I recently attended super day in NY for the Technology Analyst and Developer Role, I was put on hold and they told they will get back to me after 4 weeks, I have already waited 3 weeks and still patiently waiting, I was wondering if I am ever gonna have a shot? what are the chances? has anyone experienced this? Please provide me your inputs I have other offers, but I know for the fact that I want this one. Please suggest what to do.
Thanks, Anusha
I don't know if this is too late but try levering your other offers. I had a friend who called BAML after superday to tell them he had another offer with a BB but would take the BAML offer if given. They extended him the offer afterwards.
BB waitlisted, accepted, placement... (Originally Posted: 02/16/2007)
I was initially placed on a waitlist for a BB Summer Analyst Program a week after my Superday, and 2 weeks later, was given the offer.
Will the fact that I was originally on the waitlist hurt me when group placements are made?
Will candidates that were initially on the waitlist and later accepted have a disadvantage compared to those that were accepted immediately in terms of selecting groups?
How would you suggest going about getting the group you like? Reaching out to bankers in that group? Researching the group so you can speak intelligently about it when decisions are made?
Thanks in advance...
but you can always try and email bankers from certain groups to learn more about them and get your name out there
Since you made it to final rounds, the reason why you were waitlisted versus received an offer immediately is probably because others were a better "fit" than you for the firm; I doubt it has anything to do with your hard qualifications (school, GPA). Groups placement usually works by the groups receiving all the resumes of the new summer analysts and ranking them, and then HR matches your preferences to the groups preferences (or the group's senior people all meet with HR, but essentially the same thing happens). So, groups will generally rank who they want based on what you look like on paper. I doubt they'll even know you were waitlisted at first, unless someone in the group interviewed you and happens to be involved in the discussion of which summers they want. So, I doubt it's going to affect you placement.
Thanks jgsim, that does help out alot.
Did I get waitlisted? (Originally Posted: 01/11/2017)
I was recently at a BB superday for a small quant risk summer analyst position (there are 3 PHDs in the group in NY). 4 people including myself were interviewing, and I got a call the next day from HR saying that the team was still deliberating and would have a decision within two weeks. I reached out to another guy who interviewed (one of the 4), and he said he received an email two days later (today) telling him he was rejected. Is it safe to assume that I am waitlisted, and that they gave somebody an offer but they haven't accepted yet, and are waiting for them to accept/deny before they give me definitive news?
Or is it really possible that the team is actually deliberating over three remaining candidates?
