Did I mess up somewhere?
Hi,
I emailed a director of a field I want to work in (ventures and innovation) and she told me that she'd be happy to talk. At the same time, i also emailed someone else on the team, as I was always under the impression that I should reach out to more than one person on a team. However, the director told me that since I got in touch with the other team member (senior analyst) I should just get informed by her instead. The senior analyst then told me that she forwarded my resume to the hiring manager as well as campus recruitment to see if there's a fit.
Should I still insist on having a phone call or meeting for coffee? They seem very straight to the point and know I'm looking for a job - but this doesn't really allow me to build any form of relationship with them.... please advise
What made you think you should reach out to multiple people on the team at the same time? If you reach out to one person on the team, there's no need to reach out to someone else, unless you have sent a follow-up two weeks from the initial contact, and then it's two or more weeks after the follow-up with no response.
I did hesitate, but I'm in my last year of undergrad and really want to network as much as I can for full-time. I guess the only way is to be patient, and if they're in the same company at least make sure they're not on the same team?
