Did I screw my interview?
I had on my resume that one of my hobbies is jigsaw puzzles. The interviewer asked me the biggest sizes I have done.
Interviewer: so whats the biggest size of jigsaw puzzles you have done?
Me: 200 by 200
Interviewer: wow thats huge
Me: its not that huge.
Of course, i meant 200 pieces, not 40000 pieces. I realized that i made this mistake after the conversation. I wrote him a thank you email and explained about this in the email.
Do you think i will be labeled as a liar? Or would they trust my email?
Thank you!
The interviewer would've forgotten about this already, but you had to remind him in the email? Either way don't worry about it, it really doesn't matter.
No but you sound awkward, and the fact that you emailed him afterward makes it even worse.
If you don't get the offer it isn't cause of this question
wait so the fact that I emailed makes it worse, so I screwed up??
You've overthought this. People make mistakes and it doesn't make them a liar. You didn't overstate your job qualifications - you were talking about a hobby. No one was going to go and demand proof that you completed a 200x200 piece puzzle. I expect the interviewer forgot about it before he left the room. Hate to say it, but I suspect the real mistake was calling back to this in the follow-up email and making it a bigger deal than it had to be.
wait so the fact that I emailed makes it worse, so I screwed up??
You're fine. You showed a bit of over-anxiousness and a lack of situational awareness. These are typically forgivable, especially for a young kid in an interview. It won't cost you the job.
Whatever you do, don't mention the puzzle or e-mail about it again.
Bizarre
why would you email him confirming this point...
regardless, it doesn't matter- like the other people who commented here said
he probably didn't give it a second thought the second you left the room
wait so the fact that I emailed makes it worse, so I screwed up??
