Difference between m7 and top 20
I actually wanted to know that how big is the difference between the stylized "M7" and the Top 20 B-Schools when it comes to recruiting for BB IB recruiting and/or consulting ? How perceptible are they and what scope is there for making it up ?
Completely lost with your last sentence.
Anyways, spend less time thinking about the latest published rankings and focus on program placement. The IB recruiting process at the MBA level is predicated on the number of alumni at each bank (i.e., Darden/Johnson candidates may enjoy more recruiting success relative to a Haas/Kellogg candidate).
Actually by the last sentence I wished to ask what was the difference as perceived by the banks when they recruit the students from different B-Schools and could anyone make up for that difference between the MBA business schools">m7 and Top 20 ?
If you’re really good it doesn’t matter where you go, it’ll just make it easier out of the door. Anything top 20 though is very good and if you can’t make it from there you likely aren’t able to make it from an MBA business schools">M7 either. Remember it’s you who controls your path and not the college.
Of course people can make up the difference. Every year people from top 20 schools go to top banks like GS, MS, EVR, etc. It’s just that MBA business schools">M7 schools will send more to these banks, and top 20 schools will send more to lower tier BBs and MM.
Of course there is a difference and it comes down to opportunities. There are more MBA business schools">M7 alumni at positions at top IBs, whether it is BB, EB or MMs. There are also structured recruiting processes for many banks at the MBA business schools">M7 schools. So, from a numerical standpoint, the odds of landing an offer are higher because you are utilizing OCR.
At a Top 20 (or beyond, I've seen plenty with MBAs from Top 50/75 that make it), you have to be more scrappy because there isn't the same depth of recruiters, openings or alumni connections.
By my calculations about 13...
