Different city than significant other
So my girlfriend is 100% set on moving to NYC after college which I was 100% set on as well having grown up in NYC and loved it. However, my internship next summer will be in Charlotte. The group altogether is very Charlotte based with only a few people in NYC. I’m afraid I will end up being stuck in Charlotte but at the same time I would rather have a job in Charlotte than no job at all. Should I just try to recruit into a different bank for a position in NYC? If so, when would I start networking for that/ aren’t most full time hires pulled from their summer analyst class? Are there standard recruiting cycles for that or should I network throughout so that people can just lmk if there’s an opening?
Also, I’m not against being in Charlotte for a few years. I think it would actually be interesting to experience. My main issue is that I do not want to be apart from my Gf for that long. Charlotte has no good opportunities for anything in her field.
First of all, if it’s your college GF, I wouldn’t base life decisions off where she lives (which probably means you would break up).
Second, yeah feel free to apply to NYC
